Paris Zoo is an urban zoo located in the heart of the city. About 15 hectares of nature and animals, living in an environment created especially for each and every one of them, they live as in their own ecosystem.
It all started with the Royal Garden of Medical Plants, created in the year 1635; that more forward, in the year 1793, continued with the National Museum of History and Nature. In 1932, the city of Paris provided the Museum 14 hectares near Lake Daumesnil. Professors and architects started the project of construction of the zoo; They wanted it to be a modern zoo. At last, on June 2, 1934, Paris Zoo was inaugurated.
The symbol of the park is definitely the great rock, 65 meters high, by its staircase and lift you can reach the panoramic viewpoints. At its opening, visitors could admire 1,800 animals, 1,200 birds and 60 mammals.
Its new changes were organized into five new zones with more than 180 species. The spaces were reproduced as realistic ecosystems, prioritizing animal welfare adapted to each species

Patagonia: this biozone has 3 habitats, the pampas inhabited by ostriches, hares ... In the area of rocky coasts sea lions, penguins, etc. And finally in the biozone, pumas and pudúes.
Europe: just under the big rock you can find the nursery where frogs, toads, newts, turtles, lizards and snakes live. Next, you will find the European forest inhabited by Iberian wolves, Eurasian lynxes, vultures and gluttons.
Savanna-Africana: an environment full of thickets and open meadows with herbs and thorny bushes, that's where we find the great aviary and the house of the giraffes.
