Recinte Modernista Sant Pau de Barcelona

The Hospital de Sant Pau was conceived as a hospital for both, the body and the soul. Domènech i Montaner designed a garden city, with a set of buildings, including the hospital itself with 16 pavilions, a church and a convent. A natural retreat in which the improvement of the patients did not depend only on the medicine, but also of the own enclosure, a cozy place for the emotional and emotional improvement.

The entrance to the Recinte Modernista Sant Pau includes a walk through the different pavilions of the enclosure::

What to see in the Modernist Recinte Sant Pau in Barcelona

The Recinte Modernista Sant Pau in Barcelona is a tour through the different pavilions, gardens and tunnels. In addition to enjoying the architecture and exterior design with its wonderful facades of clear thematic inspired by nature, incredible stained glass windows and towers, some of the pavilions are visible:

The Sant Salvador Pavilion hosts an exhibition space clearly oriented to the history and evolution of medicine in Barcelona from the Hospital del Raval in 1401 to the Santa Creu of the 21st century.

The Sant Salvador Pavilion has recreated a patient room from the 1920s, a journey through time at the beginning of the 20th century.

The tunnels run through all the buildings through the subsoil.

The Administration Pavilion currently houses a historical archive of the Hospital of Santa Creu i Sant Pau, a file that collects data from the fifteenth century.

As you can see, the entrance to the Modernist Recinte consists of much more than admiration for architecture, it is to admire the medical history of Barcelona
