Although the most frenetic days are from the night of the 15th and finish the 19th, Fallas officially begin with the first Masletá on March 1st. There are 19 mascletás, one per day. Fallas are the festivals of fire and gunpowder. Regarding fire, we must bear in mind that fire purifies everything, hence the flaws are composed of satire and critical representations of today's society. These figures (Ninots) are placed around a central figure, representative of the general theme of the Falla, which stands out for its majesty and which seems to defy the laws of gravity with its structure.
On the other hand, gunpowder is present in every street in the city, so, if you want to feel part of the party and wrap yourself in this Falla - atmosphere, you should go every day at 2:00 p.m. to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento where the best pyrotechnics deploy their potential to offer in just 10 minutes, a unique show where the body feels the vibrations of each firecracker exploding.
The mascletá is a rhythmic spectacle, the force of the explosions goes from less to more, ending in a final apotheosis, with the masclets of great power and high speed that combine with aerial finishes. Not in vain Valencians call this end the "terratremol" (earthquake in Valencian), since it is such the strength of the vibrations that they feel that this comparison is inevitable.
