Who’ll be condemned to scrub the decks on board the Batavia? Survived the overcrowded and foul voyage? Great! Now you can report to the Council of Blood. Only two verdicts are possible: Guilty or Very Guilty! And the judge knows just how to deal with criminals! Of course you can always try to escape your fate. But whether you’ll find a way out in the dark alleyways of Amsterdam…. Do you dare?

Amsterdam Dungeon is a Gothic horror show. Despite its short history, it is already one of the requirements of this city. Since it opened its doors in 2006, it has not stopped innovating and reinventing itself to become one of the most popular places in Amsterdam.
The dungeon is a journey through the darkness of darker Dutch history. Through its shadowy corridors you will meet curious characters who will wrap you in their shows. In this experience there is nothing planned, everything can happen at any time, without warning, in an adventure not suitable for the most fearful.
The Amsterdam Dungeon is a 15-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. From Central Station you can take tram 9, 4 and 24 to Spui/Rokin to reach us. These stops are just a stone's throw away from The Amsterdam Dungeon. You can also reach us from underground station Nieuwmarkt, but we understand if your visit to The Amsterdam Dungeon is underground enough for a day!
The Amsterdam Dungeon is open every day.
A new tour starts every 10 minutes. It depends on the first in the row whether the next show will be in English or in Dutch. The tours last approximately 90 minutes no matter what time you enter. This is excluding queuing times which may vary.
Have no hope when you find yourself in the Torturer’s waiting room. The torturer will be searching for easy victims, like you, so make sure you’re as far away as you can be. We’re not joking – he likes to test his tools on people like you!
Magic Musico
Did you think you could catch your breath after escaping from the Torturer? You’re wrong! This bar is run by a vicious magician and nothing is what it seems.
Hell on the Batavia
Hold your ears as you’ll be deafened by loud cannons and the noisy crew of VOC Batavia. Enjoy the dirty, smelly surroundings on the overcrowded ship, where a simple wound can result in a nasty amputation – look after your limbs.
Black John Autopsy
You will find yourself in the anatomic theatre of Doctor Deyman. In his theatre lies the body of Black John, an infamous criminal of his time.
Spanish Inquisition
If you find yourself in the Dungeon’s court of law, facing our fearsome judge, you must be guilty or very guilty! The judge has no time for your excuses and lies.
Labyrinth
They say there is a way out, away from all the misery, illness and pain via the labyrinth… but can you find your way back through the dark streets of Amsterdam?
Witch Burning
Laugh nervously when the witch is tied to the stake and is burned alive! While she was brutally tortured, who did she inadvertently point out to be the next innocent victim? Will you be next on the stake?
Murder on the Zeedijk
You're walking down an old haunted street in Amsterdam, the Zeedijk... Do you dare to enter the basement of the tannery? Dive into Amsterdam's biggest ghost story and meet the stunning Dina and her less sophisticated sister Helena.
Dungeon Tavern
The streets are dark and empty, and anyone with a clear conscience is tucked up safely in bed. But the criminals and lowlife of Amsterdam are going for one more drink... So, you too are welcome to join us at “The Last Shot", the oldest bar in Amsterdam (and if you find an older one, let us know... we’ll burn it to the ground!).
