La Abadía cuenta con más de 1.250.000 visitas al año, compra tu entrada y únete a esta lista de visitantes que han disfrutado tanto en este lugar tan mágico y espiritual. El templo se erigió en el siglo VIII y ha sido testigo de 35 coronaciones de reyes incluida la de la actual Reina Isabel II. Y también de numerosos entierros de monarcas británicos y de personajes ilustres como Handel o Newton.

Tu entrada incluye el recorrido por dentro de la fantástica abadía y todas sus zonas más representativas y, además, podrás acceder a los maravillosos jardines que están justo detrás del templo: College Gardens.

Y también podrás visitar el museo de la abadía, el cual está conformado por numerosas esculturas. Se encuentra en la cripta abovedada del siglo XI, y todo lo que incluye este museo son auténticos tesoros funerarios y efigies de otro tipo de los distintos reyes que han coronado Reino Unido: Eduardo III, Enrique VII, su esposa la reina Isabel I, etc.

No te pierdas tampoco allí mismo una gran joya artística medieval como es el retablo de Westminster; uno de los retablos más antiguos de Inglaterra, seguramente encargado para rematar el altar mayor de la abadía.

Información relevante

Disponibles tours guiados por sacristanes de la abadía. Se realizan 4 o 5 veces al día y se puede solicitar el mismo día de la visita (no incluidos en el precio de la entrada).
En el Cellarium Café que está allí mismo puedes tomar un desayuno típico inglés o el té de por la tarde (no incluido en el precio de la entrada y se recomienda reservar con antelación).
Recorrido por dentro de la Abadía: Capilla de Enrique VII, la Silla de la Coronación, el Museo, Tumba de Isabel I, Tumba de María Estuardo, Sala Capitular, Capilla Píxide y el Rincón de los poetas (donde están enterrados personajes como Isaac Newton, Darwin, y a partir de junio de 2018 contarán con las cenizas de Stephen Hawking).
